May 16, 1999 Day 1 So, this is the beginning of the Douglas & Keith adventures in the U.K. I arrived at The Tower Thistle Hotel around 8:30 am where I was supposed to meet Keith. I waited around until they would give me our room number and key and than I headed up to get a quick shower and get settled in myself. Our room was great with a view of the London Tower Bridge and the River Thames. I was beginning to wonder if Keith was going to make in time so that we could go to Paris. He finally came flying into the parking lot with a ton of stories and sites since he landed at Gatwik airport. We made our way to a cab and left for the train station and then on to Paris, France.
We made Paris, France by 5 p.m. and had to hit it in a hurry due to the fact that we had to leave Paris by 8 p.m. The surprise in Paris was finding Peter Krumsieg and Josh Russell (Former Eastgate Staff). They are touring Europe for the next two months. What a wild time the four of us had... you would think that we had all gone crazy running through the Metro (subway) looking for the fastest way to the Eiffel Tower which ended up being a cab which was better. Being able to see the city instead of just smelling it was a plus!
We made the Tower and went to the top, what a view. We could see Notre Dame, Arch De Triumphe and probably tons of other important Paris land marks that we didn't know the names to. Living the life of the carefree we spent our two hours in Paris seeing only the Tower and what we could from the top as well as what ever we could catch from the cab as we headed back to the train station and London via first class on the EuroStar Rail. This is the same one that we came to Paris on getting to enjoy the 150 plus mph and the Chunnel which goes under the English Channel (remember the movie Mission Impossible?)
The evening found us settling into the hotel room and making an internet connection so that I can get this out to you in a few days.
