May 22, 1999 Day 7 We were up and at it this morning going over the Firth of Forth Bridge and on to St. Andrews. This is a nice town with a huge abbey that is in ruins. If golf is your thing than you know that this is were it all started. We moved on from there to the town of Dundee and saw a huge wooden ship called the Discovery. From there we went by Perth but didn't get to explore it. In Pitlochry we had lunch and went north to Blair Castle which was the last castle in England under siege and it is currently the only castle in Europe with a standing private army. I was hoping to get a picture of the army on duty but didn't see anything of them. After that we stopped by the oldest bridge in Scotland. From there we continued north toward Inverness. Along the way we stopped at Culleden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated. We traveled just north of Inverness to Strathpeffer which is an old spa town. Our hotel is very old (built in the 1800's) it is a great place. Things haven't changed that much in the rooms. We only had a tub to bath in. You should have seen me in that thing.
