May 19, 1999 Day 4 Star Wars started today and hopefully all the guys at home made the first show. This morning was better as for time of getting up but again we stayed up way to late. We left Coventry and the Lady Gadiva and some old Churches and head to Stoke upon Trent and the Wedgwood pottery center. We had about an hour here and it was interesting to see how these things are made. From there we went to York which is full of historical sites. The Romans built this city the first time and others have built since than and it is quite the city. We wished that we could have another day here. This town just had so much to enjoying. The second largest Minister (York Minister) to West Minister is here and underneath they have found lots of old Roman ruins. There was a place that we did get to see and that was an old street that has houses that over the years have leaned toward each other. I bet that you could reach out from opposing third floor windows and touch hands across the street. We saw what was left of the old Castle and lots of the old city wall. The entrance into the city were they hung the heads of those they had killed for different crimes. In the evening I took off for York again and Keith hit the hot tub and relaxed while the rest of the group went to an evening dinner and ghost walk. In the city I found my own ghost walk and some good food. The ghost walk was great. The gentleman who was doing it was one of the best story tellers I have ever seen. I walked two miles back to the hotel enjoying the warm evening and the horses that were boarded up beside our hotel which looked out over a huge pature and racing facility. This ended a great day with thoughts turning to our next day to Scotland.
